Launched in June 2008, the Parlor has grown to include several pages with a wide range of topics. All
have appeared in Anne Rice's Lives of the Mayfair Witches series in one way or another. This was one of Anne Rice's
literary gifts--the ability to bring together a number of ideas, details, people, places, history and preternatural beings
and make them all work together to tell a story.
In the wake of Anne's passing, the Parlor has been rededicated to her memory and to the preservation of her literary legacy.
The Parlor is large, and there is a lot to see! All pages have the main menu at the top. Each item is also a category of
pages, and you can access other pages of the Parlor by selecting a topic and choosing a page from the dropdown menu on the
far left.
Not exactly how I wanted it, no (it's a webhosting thing). In the dropdown menu of this Mayfair Parlor category, there are
pages that will help you navigate your way through the Parlor. Below are some of the highlights of the Parlor's content,
and a few obligatory notes below them. Please stay a while, explore and have fun!
The above graphic by Eve Hall, used as the cover of one edition of Interview With the
Vampire, is one that I thought could use a bit of animation. So, the candles flicker!
Highlights of Come Into My Parlor
There are many hidden gems in this website devoted
to the Lives of the Mayfair Witches, just as there are many hidden gems in the books themselves.
You may also visit About the Parlor for more details.
An exploration of literary, musical, artistic and dramatic influences in the Mayfair Witches
books;
A "tour" of the Mayfair house at 1239 First Street, including photographs and blueprints;
Explorations of the supernatural worlds of Anne Rice, including witches, ghosts and vampires;
An exploration of Mayfair religion, myths and legends, including a page on Merrick Mayfair;
Overview of all of the legacy Mayfair Witches, with commentary on additional characters in the books;
A geography of all the places lived in or visited by the Mayfairs, including maps and links to informative pages;
An early script written by Anne Rice for the television movie "The Witching Hour" (used here with the good graces of Anne
Rice herself);
A survey of the erotic and religious writing of Anne Rice, and much, much more.
Please be advised that The Mayfair Witches Parlor does NOT
write or share fan fiction. Never has, never will.
What's New
It appears things are still a bit spotty in terms of random 502 Bad Gateway errors and other things, but it is A LOT better
than it was around here last month. I have blog posts about this mess on the Chronicles site.
This is exasperating. I really wish I knew more about what's going on around here. This has been going on long enough that
it's time to have the conversation no one wants to have. Which is whether or not Tripod Lycos and possibly Angelfire are
going down for good. I'd also like to know what having GoDaddy, LLC as the registrar for tripod.com, lycos.com and angelfire.com
will mean for websites like this one.
That came from ICANN, by the way.
Something else I wanted to talk about has to do with how I have designed this website. Meaning, how I designed its content.
Third-party cookies are not required in order for the website to work at all. There is, however, JavaScript, which you will
need to have enabled at least in order for the collapsible or "accordion" menus to work. My web host has JavaScript of their
own, yes. However, the only JavaScript I have added are certain design elements. Expanding collapsible menus are about as
interactive as it gets when it comes to the content I create and add to this website.
The Parlor itself does not collect personal data. There is no place to add that data and there is nothing to sign up for
on this website. What my web host does with regard to those things is separate from that. I built the Chronicles website
to handle things like that, and even then, it's minimal. No matter how minimal it is, it is still kept private. It is NEVER
given out.
Even if all you want is an email address of someone you don't like so you can send them a Christmas card that tells them,
"Thou Shalt Go F***eth Thyself", nope. Sorry. That is very likely the answer you will get from me if you do try to get me
to give you someone's personal information.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go ping a nice website or something to see if it gets any cellphones to start ringing.
Cue that kid in Grownups 2: WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!!
It looks like this site, the Original Mayfair Witches Parlor, LIVES. But just in case anything like this ever happens again,
this site has a backup. I'll add a link to it here.
This was so catastrophic, so ulcer-inducing stressful that I came very close to unpublishing this site after 17 years. Just
being honest. There are reasons I keep this site going, good ones. For those Who Must Know, I am the owner of this website.
Period.
What next? I dunno. What do you want to see more of about the Mayfair Witches?
Welcome to the Mayfair Witches Parlor 2.0!

The Parlor and Your Privacy
If you come across anything that concerns you, if you have any questions or see something you believe I should know about
right away, PLEASE do not hesitate to let me know. The Parlor can be reached directly by email at MWPChronicles@outlook.com.
For those who prefer browser plug-ins to block bad things:
The Mayfair Witches Parlor is an Internet user like everyone else. We all have to protect ourselves online, and often, that
means finding good plug-ins for browsers. The Parlor mainly uses Windows, but hopefully, those who use different operating
systems can find these plug-ins or comparable ones if that is your choice.
The plug-ins the Parlor uses most for online security? NoScript and Malwarebytes.
It's a good idea to get yourself a password manager as well.
Not every site allows for 2FA via anything other than SMS/text messaging, but if you're someone who needs it and does not
have the ability to use SMS or text messaging, there are authenticators you can get as plug-ins on your browser. They're
FAR better than nothing.
Hopefully, these suggestions will be of some help.
About The Mayfair Witches Parlor and AI training modules...
I'm trying to find the right spot for this, and this might be it. Please know that although The Mayfair Witches Parlor, formerly
Come Into My Parlor, and Chronicles of the Mayfair Witches does allow certain platforms to use the original content of both
sites for purposes of training AI modules, the privacy and data of Parlor guests remains protected. It is also separate from
advertising which is a different process altogether.
The platforms with a permission slip to use original content from this site and from Chronicles of the Mayfair Witches and
its social media include:
Google
YouTube
Apple
Adobe
Meta (Facebook, Instagram, etc)
Microsoft
GoDaddy
A Note on the Parlor's Style...
The Mayfair Witches Parlor uses quite a bit of different styles in its user interface. It's "vintage Internet" in a lot of
ways, yes. However, it is a large website with many different topics. To make it a bit more interesting, and even informative,
you will see variations in some details. The basic layout of the pages of the Parlor remain fairly consistent, and aimed
at making user experience efficient and fun.
One thing the Parlor uses is a selection of different fonts across the site. The fonts are chosen based on what a page's
theme is. The bar across the top of each page of the Parlor might also change color on a page or group of pages according
to its content. Most of the default fonts on the website itself, if your browser has enhanced protection set to Strict, for
example, will appear as Times New Roman or Arial. If, for example, you are on Rowan's Rage (in the Talamasca Files section),
you'll see a default font of Courier New. To see a full list of the fonts used across the Parlor that include example text,
scroll back to the top of this page, go to Mayfair Witches Parlor Guidelines, and scroll down until you get to the section
that contains a set of accordion options. One of them is "Fonts".
If you have questions or concerns regarding the layout of the site or...anything else...please DO let me know!
